Talking woman to woman; it's easy.
Every journalist works differently, here's what you can expect from me. I'm confident you'll be pleased with my service.
1. The First Contact
After you have decided this is for you, please get in touch and I'll get back promptly. We'll have a friendly chat on what's happened and I'll explain how it all works. I won't expect to interview you until later on. Please don't delay. Important - please also note if you have already had your story sold, told or pitched to any form of national print media (all magazines and newspapers) by yourself or on your behalf, I'm really sorry to disappoint you, but I can't do anything with it now.
2. The Pitch
If you're feeling happy with everything after speaking to me, I will prepare a proposal of your true story in a way editors like best and approach them. A few clear, relevant sample photos make a big difference.
3. The Offer
I'll tell you the details of what magazine is interested and what they've offered to pay you. Once you've agreed to this, I'll make sure you get the named magazine and exact fee you'll get paid confirmed in writing first. I'll vet your contract for you. You must agree not to speak to any other journalist now until after your article is published in accordance with the stated terms and conditions.
4. The Interview
We'll arrange a convenient telephone appointment and I'll ring you to do the interview.
5. The Article
I'll ring you again to read the general story through to you to check it's accurate and you're happy with the tone - then I'll submit it to the publication.
6. The Follow-up
There will be editorial queries. Sometimes, I can answer these for or with you. Other times somebody may ring you from the magazine. She can usually also do another general read-through if you request it, although you may feel no need by then. Somebody from the picture desk at the publication will ring you to sort out photos.
7. The Publication
Congratulations! I will endeavour to ring you to let you know when your article is out. Magazines work some weeks ahead, so you will need to be patient. Once publication has happened, there may be other opportunities I can discuss with you.
All you need to do to get started is to send me brief details of your story! CONTACT US You've got nothing to lose!
